No, this is not just a normal Annabelle euphamism for the random #HottieMcHotterson strolling my way.
*besides my hashtag for those kinds of things are #shitAnnabelleSays* ;p
No, I like myself a nice hot toddy when I don't feel good, if I want something warm, or if I want an excuse to make a delicious drink bc I don't feel like taking my liquor neat that particular morning/noon/dusk.
Now, I have a peculiar pallete, so some of you *friends in Texas in particular* may be asking,
"a hot toddy... and it's not some random hot guy?"
Indeed this is more of a northern drink, as it is usual imbibed during the cold season.
I caught a mild cold/flu/openfordiscussion or something last thursday and spent all of Sunday trying to post a Hot Toddy video, since there are so many variations on it.
Alas, youtube didn't like me uploading from my phone.
Third try was this gem recorded on the DSLR.
I do one shot videos, and to be fair I like the first one
*that you can't see bc youtube didn't like my phone or my phone didn't like youtube*
I have to figure out video editing lol
Sorry!
Basic components:
boiling water
scotch/whisky
Things that vary recipe to recipe
tea
lemon
cardamom
apple juice/cider
cloves
honey
Much to my dismay, the recipe with cardamom was lost in a sea of tabs I had open on my Galaxy tab lol
So I had to stick with a pretty basic recipe.
Boiling water (I used a ginger tea - basically slivers of ginger in boiling water)
tea (I used chammomile)
lemon (I used organic lemonade bc I didn't feel like cutting lemons)
apple cider (I used organic apple juice)
1.5oz Scotch/Whisky
(I used Hennessy Black- a cognac, but enjoyed neat, it tastes like a scotch to me, therefore a fantastic choice for the classy concoction)
cinnamon sticks for tasty garnish
So a hot toddy is typically not a party drink i.e. you don't batch/prep then pour it out.
Usually a solo kinda deal,
I also recommend milder teas, like chamomile because chamomile for example is a more relaxing tea
I feel black teas are sometimes those feel good comfort teas, but may be a little too stimulating to the throat.
This is just me. Everyone's body is different.
This is supposed to be a relaxing adult treat, so I stick with a milder tea.
Milder tea, but you still used ginger?
Yea. contradictory I know, but ginger is great when you have a cold. A little spicy for western palettes, but it is an affordable and tasty way to assist in the fight against the cold and flu. I don't see it as irritating, but to other viewers at home I can see how this makes no sense if I am using such a mild tea.
Honey
now, if you are making this and you have seasonal allergies, I suggest using local honey.
When pollenating, those bees are carrying pollen from stuff that makes you sneeze, eyes itch, etc. so it aids with you being a little more tolerant.
Manuka honey is RAD, but it you want to aid your allergies- and don't live in Hawai'i- local is best.
Don't have a single serve tea bag?
never fear! Just use a tea infuser! Don't have a tea infuser? find the smallest sieve you have and place it in the cup. :)
Place your tea (in whatever form you have it) in the mug/glass
fill your cup of goodness about 3/4 way up with water.
I then poured my 1.5oz of Hennessy Black
a splash of my organic lemonade
a splash of my apple juice
and garnished with cinnamon sticks.
BAM
