New Year New You, correct?
I am not a big believer in New Years Resolutions, although I have been so much better about consuming more water, SO I wrote down a list of 'YES's and 'NO's
BUT BEFORE THAT
I decided my family and I should really take advantage of Amazon's Subscribe & Save options.
For those of you who do not use amazon or are debating prime,
Subscribe & Save offers a variety of products you can have delivered at various times, you can go from 1 month intervals to 6 month intervals (Yea, my mom was hoping for yearly subscriptions - sorry mom).
PROS:
A: Not having to scour Costco pamphlets or every single Sunday ad for sales and extreme couponing.
B: You only have to do a big buy a few times a year, and it will auto draw from whatever account you link for payment.
C: You can modify your subscription interval, say if you discover you need one item more frequently.
D: You receive an additional discount on top of the low price if you subscribe to 5 or more items in your subscription, so for your January subscription you have 5+ items in your subscription, then you receive up to 15% off the entire order
We aren't the extreme couponing types due mostly to our lifestyle.
My dad has some mobility issues and mom spends most of her time either exercising at the senior center, managing dad's appointments, making sure he is taking his pills, etc.
SO when we DO go to Costco and buy things in bulk, if I am not there to help
mom is not only making sure dad is ok
(he usually sits by the food court while she shops bc he gets tired easily)
but he won't be able to help her bring things inside
(dad doesn't like using his left side, so now it is considerably weaker than his right, also he has vertigo to the point it would be more harmful than helpful to help us carry groceries in).
FOR US:
It eliminates one large quantity of items we use quite regularly that are also kind of bulky when you purchase them in large quantities.
You only have one awkward dragging the box into the house moment and then the rest is pretty easy.
CONS:
A: Like all good bargains: you gotta dig.
B: You have to find 5 items for that 15% off the entire order
C: Your payment doesn't draw when you decide to have your subscription, it draws right before it gets shipped, so if you have to monitor whatever account the draw is from just in case you have other purchases lined up before the delivery date.
There are SO SO many items and categories to choose from.
Not all prices will be a deal in your eyes, and some prices will not be for Subscribe & Save.
So you have to figure out if it's worth it for you. Not everything will seem worth it.
Want that discount on top of the already low prices? Now you have to dig for 4 more items to make that wish come true.
OK:
SOOOOO what did we agree on?
There were a lot of items I had in mind, mostly paper goods like paper towels, tissues, toilet paper etc.
Mom shut down the paper towel idea almost immediately.
I, for one, was quite offended.
I thought it was a FANTASTIC IDEA
WE USE SO MUCH PAPER TOWELS!
She deemed it as not economical
#NEXT
We finally agreed on facial tissue and toilet paper.
and I wanted baby wipes and protein powder (#NewYearNewYou, right?).
But I did this in December and was hoping to put it on my Discover because they were doing Amazon cashback at the time but mom insisted on starting the subscription in January (womp womp) so I missed out on cashback #lesigh
Between December and last week I was hunting hoping amazon had a pedialyte or electrolyte solution I could subscribe to.
Of all the baby items: a big fat NO.
SO DISSAPPOINTED.
Although I drink more water now, I sometimes still go back to my usual habits and have brought off brand electrolyte drinks to work. They also work wonders for hangovers. Grape flavor on ice. TRUST ME. Some things taste terrible as a berry or orange: electrolyte drinks for kids are exactly that.
NUUN however makes these wondrous tabs that are actually quite tasty. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND THEIR BERRY FLAVOR. That flavor was just oh my goodness, I had to drink it but I really reallllly didn't want to finish it.
I found the Tangerine Ginger ones as a subscription
HUZZAH!
We received our package TODAY
Which is why I am blogging TODAY.
SO
This is what it looked like when I opened the box
(I took this picture AFTER I took all the contents out, so that's why some flaps are open)
Everything came nice and sealed up.

Tubes generally run about $6 when you can find these.
SO for me it's a great deal.
I save and I don't have to hunt for it in random aisles at whole foods. lol
usually when you need these it's already too late,
when you are thirsty you are already dehydrated
you waited too long
so in general: you probably already feel like crap.
SO glad this is a Subscribe & Save.

OK,
SO WHY?
My parents every once in a while will go on a juicing spree.
Juice everything they can get their hands on.
I had previously bought a protein powder (also found on Amazon) that was also plant derived, that had fiber.
But since dad is taking Metamucil regularly, I decided to focus on protein powders that are plant derived that are mostly protein that have a few extra goodies too. These particular ones have fiber, antioxidants, omega-3s, probiotics, vitamins and greens all mixed in this powder. ALSO: no soy or dairy.
Dad thought he couldn't have soy for some reason so I was trying really hard to find powders that were well balanced and didn't have soy. I have a lactose intolerance, so I avoid dairy when I can.

Amazon has a lot of products they offer as in house brands.
I am particularly fond of some of their storage items offered.
Amazon Elements is ONLY baby wipes.
three formulas, three types of packaging.
so this is actually something you don't have to dig through as much XD
WHY?
I blow my nose a lot, this helps me from not tearing my nose apart.
Sometimes I am lazy when I start taking my makeup off.
I start with wipes then either: finish taking my makeup off, or I stop there and go to bed.
(DON'T DO THE LATTER: TAKE YOUR MAKEUP OFF PROPERLY AND WASH YOUR FACE/MOISTURIZE!!!!)
They are awesome when you eat chips in your car and need to wipe your hands.

SO, in closing:
the 15% discount is the "Subscribe & Save" listed in each item's price break down.
when your payment draws, it will be line item, not one lump sum.
Ie my bank account had "PURCHASE AMAZON.COM... $XX.XX" per item.
You can see the breakdown of your subscriptions by going to:
Your Account > Your Orders > Order Details
IDK why some items have tax and others don't,
I did notice those taxed are "Sold By: Amazon.com LLC"
the Quilted Northern, Kleenex, and naturally the Amazon Elements baby wipes.
So I guess subscribe to a lot of protein or food ish items if avoiding tax is uber important?
I was a bit sad I got taxed, but I guess it doesn't bother me enough to cancel a subscription.
